Irene Jalowayski

artist_info

Irene has been working as a glass artist for the past 14 years here in Palm Beach County, Florida. She works primarily with fused glass, cast glass and mixed media. Her fused art glass pieces are full of color with lots of dichroic glass mixed with beautiful bright backgrounds. She loves to create abstract sculptures which enhance any home and can be placed on a pedestal or a shelf. For the past few years Irene has been making cast glass sculptures which are created by making a clay mold, casting that in plaster and then filling the plaster mold with glass and firing it at about 1500 degrees. The mold is destroyed when the piece is removed from it so all are truly one of a kind. This year she has also been casting glass jewelry boxes which have been very popular with my customers. Irene said “ casting is a very versatile medium and I am expanding what I do with casting all the time.”

“Another specialty of mine is making fine glass Judaica including menorahs, mezzuzahs, candlesticks, seder plate. New this year I have begun to make art glass bowls using wedding glass shards to fill the bowl’s base. Wedding shards can also be incorporated into menorahs and mezzuzahs”.

“My inventory also includes many items for the home such as bowls, platters, large vases, and other dishes of varying sizes.”

Glass jewelry has also become very popular and is made from a combination of silver and fused glass. Cast glass pendants, bracelets, earrings, and brass and copper bracelets with glass cabochons will also be in the show.

Always an art lover and collector, Irene began taking fused glass classes 14 years ago. She has studied with Sid Escowitz, Phil Materio and other guest glass artists at McMow Art Glass, Art glass Environments, AAE Glass in Cape Coral, with Kay Weiner and others. Her studio is in West Palm Beach and what began as a hobby has become her passion. Irene states: “Working with glass has allowed me to express my creativity and love for color, shape and form. I get lost in my work and experience a thrill every time I open the kiln”.
